Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting 11-inning clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51M viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest secured over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game series drew over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total US average was over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
